Moving from a PC to a Mac is a special case
for migration. Currently, the only software migration package
available to assist you in migrating from a PC to a Mac is
Detto's Move2Mac.
Here's an interesting and timely article
on moving from a PC to a Mac, written by Walter S. Mossberg
of the Wall Street Journal. read
If you prefer to move from the PC to the
Mac manually, please visit Apple's Web site for details. (click

There are a few things you should be aware
of before you migrate.
Software
Programs:
Software programs that are designed to run
on the Mac will not run on the PC. The operating systems that
the applications run within are very different for both and
therefore the applications themselves must be very different.
Many software makers make both PC and Mac versions of their
products so that you can use them whether you have a Mac or
a PC, however some do not.
If there is not a Mac version of an application
that you use on your PC and would like to use on your Mac
there may be another alternative for you. There may be a comparable
application that will run on your Mac and accept the data
files from the application that you were used to using on
your PC. For a list of the major ones, and recommended applications
on the Mac, click
here.

Data Files:
A few software applications, such as Intuit's
Quicken, have a different format for their data files on the
Mac than on the PC. In these cases, you need to convert the
files on the PC before moving them to the Mac. (As an example,
visit Intuit's site to learn how to prepare Quicken files.
